Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before using our services.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the Hold My Letter website (“Website”) or purchasing any of our services (“Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Website or Services.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“you” or “User”) and Hold My Letter (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Description of Services

Hold My Letter provides a service that allows customers to send a handwritten letter to our mailing address for secure storage. After a designated period (one year or two years, depending on the plan purchased), we mail the letter to the address specified by the customer at the time of purchase.

Our Services include:

  • Letter to Myself: You write a letter to your future self. We store it and mail it back to you after your selected time period.
  • Letter to Someone Special: You write a letter to another person. We store it and mail it to the recipient at the address you provide on or around your selected delivery date.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use our Services. If you are under the age of 16, you may only use our Services with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. Orders and Payment

All purchases are one-time payments. There are no subscriptions, recurring charges, or membership fees associated with our Services.

Pricing is as follows (subject to change):

  • 1 Year Letter: $19.99 (one-time payment)
  • 2 Year Letter: $34.99 (one-time payment)

Payment is processed securely through our third-party payment processor, Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and privacy policy. We do not store your credit card information.

After payment, you will receive a verification code and our mailing address. You are responsible for writing the verification code on the back of your envelope and mailing your letter to us.

5. Verification Code

Each order is assigned a unique verification code. You must write this code on the back of the envelope you mail to us. The verification code allows us to match your physical letter to your order. You should also include your full name and return address on the envelope.

If we receive a letter without a verification code and cannot match it to an order, we reserve the right to return the letter to the sender or dispose of it after a reasonable holding period. Hold My Letter is not responsible for lost or unmatched letters due to missing or illegible verification codes.

6. Letter Contents

Your letter remains sealed at all times while in our possession. We do not open, read, copy, scan, or share the contents of your letter. Your words are yours alone.

You agree not to include any of the following in your letter:

  • Illegal substances or contraband;
  • Hazardous materials;
  • Threats, harassment, or content intended to cause harm;
  • Cash, checks, gift cards, or other monetary instruments; or
  • Any item prohibited by the United States Postal Service (USPS).

We reserve the right to refuse to store or deliver any letter or package that we reasonably believe contains prohibited items.

7. Storage and Delivery

We will store your sealed letter in a secure facility for the duration of your selected time period. We take commercially reasonable precautions to protect your letter from damage, loss, or unauthorized access.

At the end of the storage period, we will mail your letter to the delivery address on file using tracked shipping. We aim to deliver your letter on or around the anniversary of receipt (for “Letter to Myself”) or on or around the target delivery date you selected (for “Letter to Someone Special”). Exact delivery dates depend on USPS processing times and are not guaranteed.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery address on file is accurate and up to date. If you or the recipient moves, please contact us with the updated address at least 2–4 weeks before the scheduled delivery date.

8. Address Changes

If you need to update the delivery address for your letter, please contact us at support@holdmyletter.com as soon as possible. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to update the address before your letter is mailed, but cannot guarantee changes made fewer than 14 days before the scheduled delivery date.

If a letter is returned to us as undeliverable, we will attempt to contact you via email to obtain an updated address. We will hold returned letters for up to 90 days. After 90 days, undeliverable letters may be disposed of.

9. Refund Policy

You may request a full refund at any time before we receive your physical letter at our mailing address. Once we have received your letter and it has been matched to your order, refunds are not available.

If you have paid for an order but have not mailed your letter within 90 days of purchase, you may contact us to request a refund or extend your mailing deadline.

To request a refund, please contact us at support@holdmyletter.com.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hold My Letter and its owners, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services, including but not limited to:

  • Loss, damage, or destruction of your letter;
  • Delays in delivery caused by USPS or other circumstances beyond our control;
  • Letters delivered to an incorrect address due to information provided by you;
  • Inability to match a letter to an order due to a missing or illegible verification code; or
  • Any loss arising from events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, fire, theft, or acts of God.

In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the Services exceed the total amount you paid to Hold My Letter for the specific order giving rise to the claim.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. While we take reasonable precautions to safeguard your letter, we cannot guarantee against all risks of loss, damage, or theft.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hold My Letter and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) the contents of any letter you submit; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

17. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Website. Your continued use of the Website or Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in St. Charles County, Missouri, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unenforceable, or illegal by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.
