How It Works
How does Hold My Letter work?+
We offer two ways to send a letter to the future, and both end with a sealed physical envelope in your mailbox. Digital Future Letter ($9): Type your letter on our site, pick any delivery date from one month to two years out, and we print it on cream stationery, seal it with wax, and mail the physical envelope on the date you chose. Mail-in Handwritten Letter ($19): Sign up and pay online, receive a verification code and our PO Box, write your letter by hand, write the code on the back of the envelope, and mail it to us. We store it safely until your chosen delivery date (any custom date from one month to two years out), then mail it back to you with tracking, still sealed.
What’s the verification code for?+
The verification code connects your letter to your online order. For handwritten letters, write the code on the back of the envelope so we can match it when it arrives. For digital letters, the code is included in your confirmation and links your letter to your account. It’s your receipt and your tracking number all in one.
What if I forget to write the code on my handwritten letter?+
Don’t panic! As a backup, we can try to match your letter using the name you signed up with. Make sure the name on your letter matches your account. But please try to include the code—it makes everything much smoother!
Do you read my letter?+
No! Handwritten letters stay sealed the entire time—we never open, read, or share your contents. Digital letters are encrypted and stored securely. Your words are yours alone.

How much does it cost?+
Two products, both one-time payments. Digital Future Letter — $9: Type online, we print, seal, and mail the physical envelope on your chosen date. Mail-in Handwritten Letter — $19: Write by hand, mail to us, we hold it sealed in climate-controlled storage, mail it back with tracking on your chosen date. One letter per purchase. Any custom delivery date from one month to two years out. US shipping only.
Is there a subscription?+
No. Every Hold My Letter purchase is a one-time payment, no recurring charges. You buy one letter, you pick one delivery date, you get one sealed envelope back. That's it.
Shipping & Delivery
How do I send my handwritten letter to you?+
After you pay, you’ll receive our mailing address and your verification code. Write your letter, write the code on the back of the envelope, seal it up, and mail it to us using regular mail. If you want extra privacy, put your sealed letter inside a second envelope—we’ll only open the outer one.
When will I get my letter back?+
On the exact date you chose at checkout. Both products let you pick any custom delivery date from one month to two years out. Handwritten letters mail back with tracking, still sealed. Digital letters arrive as a sealed printed envelope on the date you picked. Same product format on arrival, different way to write it.
What if I move before my letter arrives?+
Email us at support@holdmyletter.com with your verification code and new address anytime before your delivery date, and we'll update it. If a letter is returned as undeliverable, we'll contact you via email.
Do you ship internationally?+
Not yet — both products currently ship within the United States only. International shipping is on the roadmap.
Letters to Someone Special
Can I send a letter to someone else?+
Yes! Both handwritten and digital letters can be sent to anyone you love. It’s a perfect surprise for graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, or just because. Choose your delivery date and we’ll take care of the rest.
Will the recipient know it’s coming?+
Nope—it's a complete surprise. We won't contact them beforehand. Whether you wrote it by hand or typed it online, the letter arrives in their mailbox as a sealed envelope on the date you picked. No advance notification, no email warning. Just a heartfelt letter showing up the day you chose.
What if the recipient moves?+
Email us at support@holdmyletter.com with the updated address and your verification code at least 2–4 weeks before your scheduled delivery date, and we'll update where the sealed envelope gets mailed.
