Schedule a Letter to Be Mailed

The slowest mail service on the internet. On purpose.

Most things you can schedule online get easier to ignore. A scheduled letter does the opposite: you write it once today, then half-forget it, and one day a sealed envelope shows up in your mailbox. You stop what you are doing. You read it. That part is not schedulable.

One month to two years. US mail. $9 typed or $19 handwritten.

The Idea

Why people schedule letters

To Future You

A goal letter that lands a year later. An encouragement letter set for the season you know will be hard. A note from a good day saved for a worse one.

To Someone You Love

A wedding-day letter scheduled for the anniversary. A letter from a parent set to arrive on graduation day. A surprise that shows up in the mail with no warning.

To Mark a Milestone

Day 1 of sobriety, scheduled for day 365. The week you start trying, scheduled for the week you bring the baby home. Anything worth marking with paper.

Frequently Asked

The short version

What does it mean to schedule a letter?

You write the letter today, set a future date for it to go out, and we hold the letter sealed until that date. On the morning you picked, we drop the envelope in the actual US mail. It arrives a few days later, in the recipient's actual mailbox. It is the slowest mail service on the internet, and that is the whole point.

How is this different from a scheduled email?

Scheduled emails go to inboxes. Scheduled letters go to mailboxes. Email-based services like FutureMe send you a future email; we mail you a sealed cream-paper envelope. The format changes how the letter feels when it arrives.

What is the longest I can schedule a letter for?

Two years from when you write it. The shortest is one month — we need a little time to print, seal, and store. Most people pick six months, one year, or two years. Anything beyond two years is on our list but not built yet.

Can I schedule a letter for someone else?

Yes. You can send to your own future address or to anyone else's US address. For gift letters we never email the recipient — the envelope showing up is the whole experience.

What if I want to change the schedule later?

Email support before your mail date and we'll adjust it free. Once we have printed your digital letter or returned your handwritten one to the mail stream, the date is fixed because the physical work is done.
