Handwritten Letter Service

Your handwriting. Your seal. Mailed when you said.

You write the letter by hand. You seal it. You mail it to us. We hold the envelope unopened in fire-resistant, climate-controlled storage until the date you chose — and then we mail it on, exactly as you sealed it.

The thing that arrives looks like a letter from you, because it is.

How It Works

Four steps. We do the storing.

One

Order online

Pick your delivery date and recipient at /letter-to-me. $19, paid once.

Two

Write by hand

Your paper, your pen, your sealed envelope. The way letters were always meant to be sent.

Three

Mail to our PO box

We confirm receipt and log your verification code. The letter goes into storage in the envelope you sealed.

Four

We mail it then

On the morning you chose, your sealed envelope goes out — to you or to whoever you wrote it for.

Why People Choose Handwritten

What handwriting does that typing cannot

Recognition

Your kid will know it is from you before they open it. So will your spouse. So will your future self. Handwriting is a fingerprint.

Memory

Brain-imaging research finds writing by hand activates deeper memory encoding than typing — and the slower pace forces you to mean what you wrote.

Permanence

A handwritten letter is the kind of object that ends up in a shoebox under a bed for forty years. A printed one rarely does.

Frequently Asked

The honest answers

What is this exactly?

You handwrite a letter on whatever paper feels right. You seal it in your own envelope. You mail it to our PO box. We hold it sealed (we never open it) in fire-resistant, climate-controlled storage until your chosen delivery date — any date one month to two years out. On that morning, we drop your envelope in the actual mail.

Why would I mail a letter to you instead of just keeping it myself?

Because most people who keep a sealed letter at home open it early, lose it in a move, or forget it exists. We don't. We hold thousands of letters in a single dedicated studio with one job: do not lose them, do not open them, mail them on the right day.

Do you actually never open the seal?

Correct. The letter arrives at our PO box in your sealed envelope. It goes into storage in that sealed envelope. It comes out of storage in that sealed envelope. We address a return envelope, slip yours inside, and mail. The seal you put on is the seal the recipient breaks.

What paper, pen, envelope should I use?

Whatever feels right to you. The whole point of handwritten is that it is yours — your stationery, your favorite pen, your messy or careful handwriting. If you want suggestions, the /letter-helper page walks you through a few prompts and the /letter-writing-guide has a free printable.

How is this different from the $9 digital option?

Digital ($9): you type online, we print on cream stationery and seal with wax. Handwritten ($19): you write by hand on your own paper and seal it yourself, we store and re-mail. The digital arrives as a Hold My Letter envelope. The handwritten arrives looking like a letter from you, because it is.

What if my letter is delayed in the mail to you?

Your delivery date doesn't start ticking until we receive the letter. Mail it whenever; we'll confirm receipt and lock in your chosen future date once your envelope is in our hands. If you choose a date that does not give us time to receive the letter, we'll email you to extend the date.
